A sacramental emergency is a situation in which someone is in danger of death and urgently needs the presence of a priest to receive the sacraments, particularly:

• The Anointing of the Sick
• The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
• The Apostolic Pardon with a plenary indulgence

This includes situations such as:

• A serious accident
• A critical medical condition
• Someone actively dying or in hospice care
